Although family law is a branch of civil law, the party that files is called the petitioner, and the party that must answer is called the respondent.

Kimberly and Keith have represented respondents and petitioners in cases involving:

  • attending temporary order hearing for divorce, custody and/or child support issues;

Q:     What should I wear to court?

Lesson learned from My Cousin Vinny:
"When you come into my court looking like you do, you're not only insulting me, but you insult the integrity of this court." (Judge Haller).
"Now didn't I tell you next time you appear in my courtroom that you dress appropriately?" (Judge
"You were serious about that?" (Vinny)

A:    However, this is no laughing matter, judges initially judge the client by what they wear.  Suits are best, but if you do not have one, choose an outfit that you would feel comfortable wearing to church or a formal business meeting.

Q:    Is litigation contradictory of the Christian faith?

A:     "For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity"      - Isaiah 61:7-9

"A good man wins his case by careful arguement; the evil-minded only wants to fight. Self control means controlling the tongue, a quick retort can ruin everything."  - Proverbs 13:2&3
